Ayutthaya

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, simply known as Ayutthaya, is the former capital of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province in Thailand. The city locates in the valley of the Chao Phraya River. About 80 km north of Bangkok and just taking about 1-hour driving, Ayutthaya was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 for its unique ancient Buddhist Temples, which could not ever be met in anywhere else in the world.
Even it is not so action-packed as Bangkok or developed quickly like Phuket, Ayutthaya is an ancient treasure, where the place and the people are all gentle, elegant, calm and delightful. Most of the city is typically red, which come from the historical and architectural complex, including Wat Choeng Thar, Wat Phra Ram, Wat Mahathat, Wat Phutthaisawan, Wat Pra Sri Sanphet, Wat Worachettharam, Wat Lokaya Suttha, Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Suwandararam, Wat Phra Mongkhon Bophit, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram. All of them are the marks of a glorious long-time-ago reign – the Siam Dynasty. And eventhough there are now only the vestiges covered with the sign of time, they still make the Ayutthaya be irresistibly seductive for the travelers from all around the world.

Climate
Lying on 9m above sea level, Ayutthaya has a tropical climate. The summers here are showered by rainfall, while the winters are dry. The average temperature is 28.0 °C | 82.5 °F. Precipitation in Ayutthaya is about 1353 mm | 53.3 inch per year.
The best time to visit Ayutthaya in the year is November-January since this is the only period when the rainfall is not too much, and the weather is perfect. Ayutthaya is hot and humid almost the year, including the winter months from December to January. January is also the peak month, so, the hotels and accommodations fee is a little changed.
How to get there
By air
There’s no airport in Ayutthaya, but since Bangkok is not so far from there, so can take a flight to Bangkok first, then get to Ayutthaya by other vehicles.

You could jump into a taxi for an absolutely convenient drive. It costs approximately 1,000 bahts. You should negotiate with the driver, and can get to the distance, then back to Bangkok for about 2,500 baht.
By train
If you love to enjoy the scenic view through the journey, the best way is to reach Ayutthaya by train. The train to Ayutthaya starts from Bangkok's Hualamphong Train Station. The trip would last 1.5 hours - 2.5 hours depended on the type of service. A second class seat is about 245-345 Bahts while the third class costs 35 Bahts.
When arrive in Ayutthaya, you could wander through the city on a tuk-tuk.
