Quy Nhon

Located in the Central South of Vietnam (about 650km from Ho Chi Minh City) and belonged to Binh Dinh province, Quy Nhon is among the three commercial and tourism hubs of the southern coastal region besides Da Nang and Nha Trang. This city can be easily accessed by air, train, or bus from Hanoi or Saigon. Quy Nhon‘s topography is diversified with the combination of mountains, hills, forests, fields, salt marshes, plains, lagoons, lakes, rivers, shorelines, peninsulas, and 42 km long white sandy beaches.

In the old-time, Quy Nhon in particular and Binh Dinh, in general, was part of the Champa Kingdom. Therefore, lots of Champa relics still can be seen here. 27 km from Quy Nhon is the ruin of Cha Ban, the capital of Champa Kingdom Vijaya. Dotted around Quy Nhon are some most famous Cham towers that provide a great sight of ancient architecture style and religious aspects. Besides that, the national tourist site Genh Rang Hill situated in the South East of Quy Nhon is a masterpiece of nature with hills, sea gates, and caves naturally formed by soil and stones after years. Coming here, you can both admire the spectacular natural landscapes and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Lying at Ghenh Rang’s foot is a pristine beach with lots of round stones which was the private beach for Queen Nam Phuong’s holiday. From above, the impressive view of the Phuong Mai peninsula together with the Thi Nai lagoon is a kind of natural painting and right on the hillside is the tomb of Han Mac Tu, a famous poet in Vietnamese literature.

Additionally, Quy Nhon and Binh Dinh are famous for Tuong, a type of classical drama. It is also home to Vo Tay Son, the most famous type of martial art in the country. Furthermore, Quy Nhon can offer more with some very interesting museums or pagodas inside or nearby the city.

Visiting Quy Nhon

The dry season of Quy Nhon lasts for 9 months, from January to September. Among them, the most peak time for tourism falls in months from March to early September due to less chance of rainfall and pleasant weather. For tourists who have a special interest in visiting waterfalls, traveling from June to August will satisfy your need. Being boasted as a beautiful place, however, for the majority of travelers, Quy Nhon remains relatively off the beaten track. Quy Nhon is a perfect option for a break on your trip from Nha Trang and Hoi An and is surely a worth stop on your journey throughout the charming S-shaped country.
