Itinerary Details

Day1

Ho Chi Minh City - Sa Dec

At 8:00am, our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transport you to Cai Be.

Once aboard the Authentic Mekong Cruise at approximately 11:30am, you will receive a welcome drink. We will then embark on a morning junk trip to Dong Hoa Hiep Island, where we will explore the evergreen islands and visit the former Imperial residence of the Kiet family. Here, we will be welcomed with tea and can roam through the fruit orchards surrounding the house. Afterward, we will disembark to visit the French Gothic Cathedral and the colorful port area, which boasts colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens, and local manufacturers of coconut candy and rice paper.

As lunch is served, the Authentic Mekong Sampan will set sail towards Sa Dec. We will then embark on Cai Thia for a leisurely walk or bike ride on the countryside footpaths of My Thuan Island, where we will discover tropical fruit orchards and observe the daily activities of the local people.

Later in the evening, the Authentic Mekong Sampan will anchor midstream for the night in Sa Dec. Enjoy dinner and spend the night onboard.

Day2

Sa Dec - Lap Vo - Long Xuyen

Starting the day early, we'll witness the stunning sunrise while enjoying our breakfast on board. Afterward, we'll hop on a small boat to visit the local brick and tile kilns, as well as the earthenware pot manufacturing on the riverbank. Next, we'll head to the heart of Sa Dec town, where we'll visit the local market, following the footsteps of the famous French novelist Marguerite Duras. We'll then take a stroll or cycle through the ever-blossoming Sa Dec flower village and explore the local industries. Upon returning to the boat, a welcome-back drink awaits, and lunch is served. As we continue our journey on the Authentic Mekong Sampan, we'll cruise through the canals of Lap Vo, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes along the riverbanks, such as rural walks, farming, nursery farms, fishing, boating, and school children playing. Relax with a traditional herbal foot massage on board before enjoying dinner while the Authentic Mekong Sampan continues to cruise towards Long Xuyen.

Long Xuyen - Ho Chi Minh City or Chau Doc

Begin your day by exploring the bustling Long Xuyen market, one of the most vibrant floating markets in the Mekong Delta. Witness hundreds of small boats jostling for space as their owners attempt to sell their goods. Next, visit Cu Lao Ong Ho, a small island located along the Mekong river. Take in the stunning scenery as you walk or cycle through the village, passing by farmers, children, and locals tending to their daily activities. Observe the local farmers trading their produce on the water, a practice that has been carried out for centuries. This unique experience will allow you to discover a side of Delta life that few travelers get to see. Return to the boat for a welcome back drink before checking out and disembarking for your departure.

Payment:A deposit of 30% of total price is needed to initiate the tour booking after the itinerary is finalized. The balance for the trip is due 15 days prior to your arrival.

Arrival and departure flights:You are advised to make your own booking for international flights from/back your home country. This allows you to determine better the travel time frame, budget and to deal with insurance claim when needed. Travel documents:You must carry a valid passport and have obtained all of the appropriate visas, permits and certificates for the countries in which you will visit during your trip. Weather: The weather in this part of Southeast Asia is varied depening on the region and season. In the winter time from Nov to Feb, the temperature in some area such as North Vietnam, especially mountainous areas can be as low as 2-4 Degree Celsius (35 Degree Fahrenheit) and pretty cold. Other parts can be warm with temperature up to 36 Degree Celsius or more (96 Degree Fahrenheit). What to take: What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling. Generally speaking you should pack as lightly as possible. It is advisable to have your backpack or suitcase with wheels. An overnight bag with a shoulder strap or little backpacks is convenient to carry water and a camera etc for day trips. Warm clothes and light jacket are needed for the North Vietnam and northern Lao during the winter time from November to March. Sunblock, swimsuits and a light raincoat is advised all year round.
