Mai Chau, Vietnam

Leave Hanoi and drive through spectacular country and mountain sceneries to Mai Chau, a beautiful green valley, approx 150km from Hanoi. This is really a great escape from the hustle city for the nature and authentic beauty. The landscape changes greatly as you enter the mountainous area of Hoa Binh province. The road meanders through the lush scenery of mountain with villages dotted on hillsides and the locals leading their life in traditional way.  Arrive in Lac Village of Mai Chau at noon time. This village is known in the tourist maps as a common homestay place.

We will have a home lunch in local house then take a walk around the valley for sightseeing and to learn something about local life.  Continue with a drive for another 14km to Mai Hich village where you will have the homestay experience tonight.

This village is set amongst peaceful and beautiful mountain landscape and is enriched with the fascinating indigenous cultures of the Thai and Muong ethnic populations.  Unlike the other villages that somewhat commercialized with modern life and mass tourism, Mai Hich still like a child sleeping amongst the mountains that still keeps with it the authenticity of traditional way that have been practiced for hundreds of years.

The rest of the day is free to explore the village and for local interaction.

Excellent home dinner will be served along with some local rice whiskey before you take part in a traditional dance and music performance. Overnight home stay in a local house on stilts. Our accommodation tonight is based on multi sharing basis on wooden floor of the house on stilts with private brocade mattress, blanket and mosquito net are provided.
