The event, featuring 120 pavilions from domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, bread shops, suppliers, and businesses, aims to recognize the importance of bread in Vietnamese cuisine and celebrate the skill and creativity of bakers. It is anticipated to attract around 50,000 visitors.

The festival will include a ceremony to honor the top long-standing and famous bread brands in Vietnam, as well as a workshop on the development of banh mi in the country. Chairwoman of the HCM City Tourism Association noted that banh mi is among the most popular street foods in Vietnam, alongside other dishes such as pho, bun cha, com tam, banh xeo, hu tiu, and Bun Bo Hue.

Banh mi, a type of sandwich made with a baguette, is ranked seventh among the best street foods in the world by TasteAtlas and was named among the 50 best street foods in Asia by CNN. The baguette was introduced to Vietnam during the colonial period and remains one of the few legacies from that time. Originally, banh mi sandwiches were made with bread, meat, and seasonings, with no added vegetables.
