Vietnam Honored for the 7th Time as “Asia’s Leading Destination” at the World Travel Awards

On the evening of October 13th in Hong Kong, Vietnam continued to affirm its prominent position on the global travel map by receiving two major awards at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia-Pacific ceremony: “Asia’s Leading Destination 2025” and “Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination 2025”. This marks the 7th time Vietnam has won the top honor and the 3rd time it has been recognized in the heritage category.

These two prestigious awards not only highlight Vietnam’s growing appeal as a travel destination but also reflect ongoing efforts to preserve heritage, develop tourism products, and improve service quality. According to the National Tourism Administration, in the first nine months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 15.4 million international visitors, a 21.5% increase compared to the same period last year, showing strong post-pandemic growth.

In addition to the national awards, nearly 40 other prizes were given to localities, agencies, and leading tourism businesses in Vietnam at this year’s WTA. Hanoi was honored in two categories: “Asia’s Leading City Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Short Break Destination.” Ho Chi Minh City also made a strong impression with awards for “Asia’s Leading Event & Festival Destination,” “Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination,” and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism was recognized as “Asia’s Leading Local Tourism Authority.”

Moreover, Hoi An retained its title as “Asia’s Leading Cultural City,” while Ninh Binh was named “Asia’s Leading Emerging Destination” thanks to its Trang An heritage site. Vung Tau was awarded “Asia’s Leading Coastal City Short Break Destination,” Phong Nha - Ke Bang was honored as “Asia’s Leading National Park,” Moc Chau was recognized as “Asia’s Leading Nature - Based Local Destination,” and Van Don Airport became “Asia’s Leading Regional Airport.”

In the accommodation and aviation sectors, Vietnam Airlines maintained its position by winning “Asia’s Leading Airline Brand.” Many of Vietnam’s luxury resorts and hotels also received awards, confirming their service quality is increasingly aligned with top international standards.
