With dry, bright and pleasant weather, February is one of the months with the best weather conditions of the year in all parts of Myanmar. It is forecasted that there will be no rain throughout the month and the feeling of cold winters in the highlands is no longer existed. Average monthly temperature ranges from 31 to 32 oC.

In major tourist areas such as Bagan, Inle Lake, Mandalay, the average temperature is 31 oC. However, in the Shan region and around Inle Lake, in the evenings, it can still get a little chilly, you should bring a jacket.

The weather is a bit hotter in Yangon. The average temperature is 33 oC with a lot of sunshine hours in a day. Rainfall in the month is negligible.

In the south and along the coast, there will be beautiful sunshine with breezes. The average temperature in February is 27 oC and almost all days are sunny. This is a great time to relax at Ngapali and Ngwe Saung beaches.

Union Day

Celebrated on February 12 in Myanmar, Union day is an annual public holiday that people all over Myanmar gather to commemorate the Panglong Agreement of 1947. This treaty brought the country unified and completely independent after more than 100 years of British colonial rule. The festival will take place with parades, cultural and entertainment events across the country.

How to do and what to expect if travel to Myanmar in February

Traveling to Myanmar in February, you can comfortably arrange the itinerary because the weather is favorable to explore any attractions across the country.

With central plains such as Bagan and Mandalay, you can visit ancient temples, walk to the white temple surrounded by lush green forest called Hsinbyume or take a hot air balloon to enjoy stunning view of Mandalay city from above.

Yangon will offer you the typical colonial architecture. There, you can visit the Buddha statue at Sule pagoda, explore Bogyoke market or walk around Kandawwyi park to enjoy the fresh air and explore the daily life of the local people.

Taking a long boat ride on the Inle lake is one of activities you must do when travelling in Myamar. Besides, you can learn about some handicraft such as making homemade cigars, weaving,  building wooden boat, making silvers and so on.

It’s also the best time for you enjoy and do many outdoor activities in the famous beach such as go snorkeling, scuba diving, do kayaking, … However, there is only one drawback that is the hotels, resorts and destinations will be more crowded. So you should plan to visit in advance.
