The country is now entering the rainy season, with rainfall expected across all regions - from north to south - though the intensity and frequency vary by location. Most showers are short-lived, offering a refreshing break rather than disruption. After the rain, blue skies and bright sunlight are still common.
In the northern mountainous areas, including Huay Xai, Luang Namtha, Phongsaly, Pakbeng, and Oudomxay, average temperatures remain around 30°C. Rain occurs on 10 or more days throughout the month, typically in short bursts. Total precipitation ranges between 150–200mm.
In Luang Prabang and surrounding areas, temperatures remain high at 33 - 34°C, with increased humidity and occasional showers - especially in the afternoons.
Vientiane and central Laos are approaching the peak of the rainy season. Frequent downpours are expected, but temperatures slightly decrease by 1 - 2°C compared to the previous month, ranging between 30 - 31°C.
In the southern region, including Savannakhet and the Champasak area (Pakse and the 4000 Islands), the weather still allows for many dry and sunny days. However, rain tends to be more frequent and longer - lasting than in the north. Temperatures typically hover around 31 - 32°C.
Traveling in Laos during June is still convenient. The rain is more of a refreshing change than a barrier and often occurs in short, predictable intervals. A major advantage is the reduced number of visitors, making tourist attractions quieter and more enjoyable.
Light adventure in the northern highlands is a great choice, with trekking and nature exploration benefiting from cooler air and fewer crowds. In other regions, easy-paced travel is ideal. Boat cruises along rivers become especially scenic during this time, and in the south, waterfalls begin to flow beautifully again - regaining their full splendor.
