Mingun

Mingun is a town locates in Sagaing Region, northwest of Myanmar. Not so far away from Mandalay, Mingun is famous for its world biggest unfinished stupa, Mingun Pahtodawgyi.

But this is not the only interesting things that you can find when visiting Mingun. This town is also remain a lot of the country, as well as the world impressive heritages, such as Myatheintan Pagoda; Guinness Records "Man With World Most Awesome Memory" - Buddhist monk Mingun Sayardawgyi; Kyandawgyi Lake and Mingun bell - the world second heaviest still functional bell and the third biggest bell in the world).

Nowadays, Migun’s become a popular destination for a half-day trip from Mandalay.

Climate, best time to visit

Mingun has a tropical savanna climate. The dry season is from January to May with hot weather all day and the atmosphere becomes a bit dusty. The rainy season runs from June to October is cooler but misty. The best time to visit Mingun is in November and December since the weather is still cool but the precipitation is lower.

How to get in and out.

Mingun locates on the west bank of Mandalay.  Therefore, tourists usually choose to arrive in Mingun from Mandalay by boat. To get around the town, you don’t need to use public transportation since it is very easy to explore Mingun on walk. If you want to go further, renting a bike is a good idea. This town is ideal for a half-day excursion.
