Shwesandaw Pagoda

Shwesandaw Pagoda is the highest Buddhist temple in Bagan, located northwest of Kyansittha Umin near the bank of Irrawaddy river, in the area of Nyaung U. It is considered the best place to watch sunrise and sunset of Bagan city.

Shwesandaw temple has a 4-sided 5-storey structure, and the most special feature is that each side has a staircase leading to the terrace. Standing on the terrace of Shwesandaw, you can admire the whole surrounding landscape and temples clearly.
