Mondulkiri

Located in the northeast of Phnom Penh and near the border with Vietnam, Mondulkiri is the largest province of Cambodia and is one of the most beautiful countrysides in the country. The population of the region is around 40,000 with different minority tribes; many of them still maintained the lifestyle for centuries in the forests. Mondulkiri is famous for spectacular waterfalls, lovely rivers, primitive jungles, and abundant orchards.

Although deforestation has continuously happened, especially due to the remaining minerals in the deep fertile soil, Mondulkiri is still one of the biggest primary forests of Cambodia. The town of Sen Monorom is the perfect base camp for tourists who wish to discover further areas. A peaceful town lying in the hills has many potentials to develop a stable eco-tourism. Nowadays, it is quite undeveloped, which gives tourists a feeling of an off-the-beaten-track trip. Additionally, the hill tribe people residing in neighboring Thailand with their unique culture is an interesting thing for adventure tourists. Visiting local villages with numerous typical Khmer-style houses, you can see the traditional Phnong houses with valuable ancient gongs and big jars.
