Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park

Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is located in Sam Roi Yot district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, about 40 km south of Hua Hin. The name Khao Sam Roi Yot in Thai means a mountain with 300 peaks, used to describe the majestic limestone mountain range along the Gulf of Thailand, of which the highest peak is up to 605 meter high. The northwest corner of this mountain has a large swamp that is considered the largest freshwater swamp in Thailand.

Khao Sam Roi Yot national park features a very rich and beautiful natural landscape from white sandy beaches, offshore islands to caves, cliffs, trails, swamps and systems. Extremely perse flora and fauna including more than 275 species of birds and many typical flowers.

The main attraction of Khao Sam Roi Yot national park is Phraya Nakhon cave, where the Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuhat royal building was built by King Rama V, and is considered the symbol of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. In particular, the cave has a large hole above, at the right time of the year, when sunlight shines in here, it will create a spectacular scene.

Other highlights that tourists should visit when coming to Khao Sam Roi Yot are Tham Sai Cave, Tham Kaeo Cave, which is famous for its beautiful natural stalactites; Hat Laem Sala beach and campground with wide and shallow beach; Khao Daeng viewpoint of 157m high, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley and surrounding mountains; Khao Daeng Canal; Thung Sam Roi Yot freshwater marsh, inhabited by birds and amphibians.

From Hua Hin, the fastest way to reach the national park is by car, via Bangpu village.

You can visit Khao Sam Roi Yot at any time of the year but the best time is from November to May, during the dry season. You should spend at least 7 hours or more than 1 day to explore the National Park.
