Tad Yuang Waterfall

The 40-meter-height Tad Yuang waterfall is located on the Bolaven Plateau in the South of Laos (40 kilometers from Pakse). Thanks to the great contribution of volunteers in developing the infrastructure of the area, this beautiful site has become a popular name for tourists to access and explore in recent years.

At Tad Yuang, there are several viewing platforms situated at different levels of the waterfall including near the top, middle, and bottom. To reach these points, it requires some short steep walks along the path, which are a bit slippery in the wet season. There is also a picnic area to relax among peaceful nature, enjoy the marvelous view, and take great photos of Tad Yuang. The bottom of the waterfall is a large pool for swimming and cooling off.

Other active outdoor activities that can be organized in the area are kayaking, biking, and trekking. A day trip to Tad Yuang is conveniently combined with discovering Tad Fane which is only 2 kilometers away.

The nearest town to Tad Yuang is Pakse, which has an international airport connecting Luang Prabang, Vientiane, and Savannakhet. The site is easily accessed by a private car from the town of Pakse as it takes only 45 minutes to drive.

Climate, the best time to visit

Due to the location on a plateau, the climate of Tad Yuang waterfall is much cooler than in other parts of Laos. Also, it sees more chances of rainfall and the sun does not always shine. The best time to visit the site is during the dry season from October till late January. This time of the year, the currents are calm and it is safe to participate in water activities.
