Marble Mountain

Lying on the endless coastal boulevard - Truong Sa - along famous Da Nang beach, about 9km far from Da Nang center, 20km from Hoi An ancient town, Ngu Hanh Son (Five Elements Mountain) is in every must-visited-list of travelers coming to Central of Vietnam.  The mountains are named after the five elements of the ancient oriental philosophy: metal, wood, water, fire and earth, as people believe that the five limestones correspond to. In the past, Vietnamese army used the mountains as secret hiding places and Marble mountains have now become a historical attraction witnesses Vietnamese revolutionaries.

At the foot of the mountain is Non Nuoc village, which is famous for stone sculptures and traditional handicrafts. In the past, to make sculptures, rock of the Marble Mountain was extracted directly but it is illegal nowadays. Instead of that, the materials for sculpting work are now transported from nearby provinces.

Among the five, Thuy Son – The Mountain of Water, is the most famous and also the highest. Inside the cases of the mountain, there are several Buddhist temples, lots of them are dating back to the 17th century. Climbing up about 150 steps or take the elevator from the foot to the peak of the mountain, you will reach the Vong Giang Tower or Riverview Tower for the spectacular view to Kim Son or the mountain of metal, Truong Giang, and Cam Le rivers and stunning coast.
