Hua Ma Cave

Located in Quang Khe Commune (Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province), Hua Ma is a great cave with gorgeous karst formations that have been naturally shaped after a long time of geological changes. It is stunningly beautiful and also has a haunting story related to a king who found the solution to free the souls out of the dark cave by sending the horses’ heads downstream and taking them to a temple to recite Buddhist scriptures. For many years this fascinating tale kept many people away, but now, those brave enough to enter the cave will be rewarded with amazing views of many beautiful stalactites with unique shapes like the Guanyin Buddha statue sitting on a lotus throne, terraced fields, stone curtain, stone gate, etc.

Hua Ma Cave

Hua Ma is also named “Dong Treo” meaning hanging cave because it is located in the middle of the mountain which has an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, more than 700 meters in length. The cave has an entrance in the East and an exit in the South so it also looks down on the emerald water of Ba Be Lake and Nang River. From 2003 – 2004, Hua Ma cave has been surveyed and put into tourism since 2007. After that, it has become an ideal destination for tourists. In addition to focusing on the conservation and development of natural landscapes, Bac Kan province has invested in lighting systems inside the cave and dynamic roads leading to the site.
